Oh no...we have decided to stay open over the winter!
OK it might be good for you but what about my 5 months off! I'm learning a new word....delegate... I know what it means but putting it in practice is another thing.
Our winter hours from May 1st are Thursday to Saturday 10am till late, Sunday 10am till 3pm and closed Mon, Tue, Wed.
Working on a winter menu and film night and happy hour and live music and the fire will be pumping so see you there.

It's been a huge learning curve for us having never been shopkeepers before. What do people want? How much markup do you put on? Where to get fresh fish? Just NZ products or imported as well? Shop hours etc etc. We have secured a contract with the local fish company OPC to supply us, so for the first time in many years you can buy fresh local fish in Whitianga and at good prices. Our cheeses come from Over The Moon in Putaururu and The Cheesebarn in Matatoki outside Thames. Harmony meats, Kipdale organic freerange chicken, Blackball salami, local organic fruit and veges the list is long and varied. It's amazing how many small boutique producers there are and it's lovely being in contact with the farmers themselves not some faceless big company.
You can find us in the mall between the Westpac Bank and Smitties and you will be sure to find something you like!!
Shop hours are Monday to Friday 10am-3pm, Saturday 10am-2pm.

Wow - summer is over and it seems like a blur! Sorry about the lack of news and updates... it's been a very busy time with lotsa sun and happy people. The weather does make a big difference and I'm glad we have been able to provide sun tans and good swimming. Our homemade icecreams have been a huge hit...don't know if it was the heat or the flavour (of course I do) but I know I'm going to need a bigger machine to keep up with the demand.
Already Paul Ubana Jones, The Julian Temple Band and the Nukes have played, also our old friend Andrew White, who has nine CDs to his name and is one of the most versatile musicians to play here with his great guitar and song writing skills and beautiful voice. Lots more coming up and I promise...I do!...to keep you informed
